Being a skinny jeans wearer by day, the idea of wearing ‘baggy’ walking trousers on weekend adventures was not my cup of tea.

Then I discovered the range of Mountain Equipment’s legwear that not only fits perfectly but performs, too.

These Chamois are my Autumn to Spring go-to. Before I discovered these trousers, I thought Soft Shell was only for jackets! Who knew this material makes a great pair of trousers. Thicker than your standard walking trousers, it helps to keep in the warmth. The smooth outer face is abrasion resistant and the soft inner is comfortable against the skin. Windproof by nature, they’re also stretchy so you are never restricted when climbing over stiles or partaking in a bit of scrambling.

One of my favourite bits is the front pockets are deep and they even safely fit your phone! Just below the front pockets are two thigh vents, they look like pockets, except they’re mesh-lined and are brilliant for when you are getting too warm.

For use with larger boots or shoes, there are ankle zips with internal gusset panels. I personally keep these zipped down so there isn’t any bagging. The quick and easy-to-use integrated belt is discrete, so you don’t even feel it there.

The Chamois to me, is an investment that will make English winter adventures more comfortable.
